Nach einer spektakulären
Feuerkugel ereignete sich am 6.
März 2016 ein Meteoritenfall bei
Stubenberg in Niederbayern. Der
Astrophysiker Dieter Heinlein
berichtet über die spannende Jagd
nach diesem Steinmeteoriten. Auf
unterhaltsame Weise räumt er mit
Irrtümern und Fehleinschätzungen
auf, die es bzgl. Sternschnuppen,
Feuerkugeln und Meteoriten gibt.
Weiterhin referiert er über
berühmte Fälle, wie z. B.
Neuschwanstein und Chelyabinsk.
Heinlein ist Technischer Leiter
des Feuerkugelnetzes des DLR
(Deutsches Zentrum für Luft- und
Raumfahrt, Institut für
Planetenforschung). Seit 40 Jahren
sammelt er Meteorite und ist auf
diesem Gebiet auch als anerkannter
Gutachter tätig.</p>

<p style="margin: 1em 0px;">Künstliche
Intelligenz (KI) zieht in alle
Lebensbereiche ein, auch in die
Forschung. In der Astrophysik
klassifizieren künstliche
Intelligenzen Galaxien, Sterne und
andere Objekte oder helfen dabei,
Teleskope zu steuern. Sie
prozessieren Datenmengen, die kein
Mensch auch nur ansatzweise
bewältigen würde. Neuronale
Netzwerke erlauben es, komplexe
Aufgaben zu lösen – vorher müssen
sie aber anhand enormer Mengen an
Beispielen trainiert werden. Den
Forschern Jakob Knollmüller und
Torsten Enßlin am MPI für
Astrophysik ist es gelungen,
solche teuer trainierten Netzwerke
zu kombinieren, um gemeinsam neue
Aufgaben zu lösen.</p>

Café-und-Kosmos-Abend werden die
beiden Wissenschaftler erklären,
welche Methoden hier zum Einsatz
kommen und warum dies ein
wichtiger Schritt auf dem Weg zu
einer universell schlussfolgernden
künstlichen Intelligenz ist.</p>
