Die berühmte Stringtheorie ist
vermutlich die abstrakteste
Disziplin in der Physik. Ihre
Anfänge reichen zurück bis 1919, als
der deutsche Mathematiker Theodor
Kaluza das Konzept zusätzlicher
Raumdimensionen einführte. Seither
unterstützt die Stringtheorie
Physiker*innen bei den
verschiedensten Fragestellungen –
von der Teilchenphysik bis hin zur
Quantengravitation. Gleichzeitig
sorgt sie auch für Verwirrung. Dr.
Veronica Errasti Diez vom
Max-Planck-Institut für Physik
erklärt, wie sich die Stringtheorie
in den letzten Jahrzehnten immer
wieder neu erfunden hat – und
illustriert die jüngsten, recht
