den <strong><em>14. August</em></strong>
steht Saturn in <strong>Opposition</strong>!
Das heißt, er steht der Sonne von
uns aus gesehen genau gegenüber und
geht auf, wenn sie untergeht und
geht erst wieder unter, wenn unser
Heimatstern aufgeht. Er ist also die
gesamte Nacht hervorragend zu
beobachten, günstiger geht es nicht.<br>
<br>
Saturn befindet sich zu diesem
Zeitpunkt im Sternbild Steinbock und
erreicht eine Höhe von 25° über dem
Horizont. Der Vollmond der Nacht vom
11. auf den 12. August schleicht
sich noch an den Saturn heran, ist
aber am 14. August wieder weit genug
entfernt, sodass er die Beobachtung
des berringten Planeten nur
geringfügig
stört.<br>
<br>
In einem kleinen Teleskop ist Saturn
bereits als Scheibchen mit Ring zu
sehen und sogar seine Abplattung,
die durch die rasche Rotation um die
eigene Achse den Planeten leicht
"eingedellt" wirken lässt, ist zu
erkennen.<br>
In einem guten Feldstecher ist
bereits der größte Saturnmond Titan
sichtbar, der erste Ort im äußeren
Sonnensystem, auf dem die Menschheit
ein Raumfahrzeug landete.<br>
<br>
Zum Zeitpunkt der Opposition ist
Saturn etwa 1325 Millionen Kilometer
von der Erde entfernt, das
entspricht ca. dem 8,86-Fachen des
Abstandes zwischen Erde und Sonne.
Das Licht, was uns in dieser Nacht
von Saturn erreicht, ist also
entsprechend eine Stunde und 14
Minuten alt.<br>
<br>
Der zweitgrößte Planet im
Sonnensystem ist immer einen Blick
wert, sein Ringsystem ist schlicht
ein atemberaubender Anblick. Diesen
hat z.B. unser Mitglied, Felix
Langgaßner, Ende Juli mit dem
Fraunhofer Refraktor (Baujahr 1835!)
auf dem Gelände der
Universitätssternwarte München
eingefangen
(siehe oben). <br>
Natürlich bemühen wir uns, zu dieser
günstigen Zeit den Saturn auch bei
unseren Abendführungen mithilfe der
Teleskope auf dem Dach der
Volkssternwarte gebührend in Szene
zu setzen!<br>

auch schon eine erspäht? Zack, flitzen sie
über den Himmel, meistens begleitet von
aufgeregtem Fingerzeigen und stummen Wünschen.<br>
Der August ist ein prima Monat zum
Sternschnuppen-Gucken. Nicht nur, weil die
lauen Sommernächte uns erlauben, auch mal
etwas länger nachts draußen zu verweilen,
sondern auch weil die tatsächliche Anzahl der
Schnuppen in dieser Zeit stark erhöht ist.</p>
<p style="margin: 1em 0px; text-align: justify;">Das
liegt größtenteils an den berühmten <strong>Perseiden</strong>,
ein Meteorstrom, der zwischen dem 9. und 13.
August die größte Aktivität aufweist. Ab und
zu ist auch mal eine richtige Feuerkugel
dabei. <br>
Das Maximum der Perseiden ist in der Nacht vom
<strong><em>12. auf den 13. August</em></strong>
und beschert eigentlich bis zu 100
Sternschnuppen pro Stunde.<br>
Leider macht uns dieses Jahr der Mond einen
Strich durch die Rechnung. In der Nacht vor
dem Maximum ist Vollmond und die dicke Kugel
stört natürlich mit ihrem Licht den Blick auf
die zarten Schnuppen. <br>
Trotzdem lohnt es sich, zwischen ca. 22 Uhr
und 4 Uhr morgens einen längeren Blick in
Richtung des Sternbildes Perseus, dem die
Perseiden ihren Namen verdanken, und aus dem
sie zu entspringen scheinen, zu werfen. Dieser
geht bei Sonnenuntergang Richtung Nord-Nordost
auf und zieht dann im Nordosten immer höher an
den Himmel.</p>

Beobachtungsausrüstung reicht eigentlich eine
Isomatte oder ein Liegestuhl. Durch die
Kurzlebigkeit der Sternschnuppen sind
Ferngläster oder Teleskope nicht notwendig.
Geduld sollte man noch mitbringen. Und
vielleicht ein paar Wünsche.</p>
<p style="margin: 1em 0px; text-align: justify;">Ursprung
der Perseiden ist der Komet <strong>109P/Swift-Tuttle</strong>.
Dieser hat bei seinen Umläufen um die Sonne,
die ihn auch die Erdbahn kreuzen lassen, eine
richtige "Gerümpelspur" zurückgelassen. Kleine
Partikel aus seinem Schweif bleiben zurück und
die Erde passiert jedes Jahr im August auf
ihrer Bahn um die Sonne den Ort, wo
Swift-Tuttle einst vorbei raste. Die Teilchen
treffen dann auf unsere Atmosphäre und lösen
die Leuchterscheinungen aus, die wir als
Sternschnuppen kennen.<br>
Swift-Tuttle kehrt 2126 wieder an seinen
ernächsten Punkt zurück, allerdings dann noch
immer gute 22,9 Millionen Kilometer von der
Erde entfernt.</p>

ist das wirklich so?<br>
Generell ist die Idee von Sternzeichen die,
dass man jenes zugeordnet bekommt, in dem die
Sonne zum Zeitpunkt der Geburt stand. Daher
sind die Sternzeichen auch nach Geburtsdaten
aufgeteilt. Löwen sind beispielsweise
offiziell alle, die zwischen dem 23. Juli und
23. August geboren wurden. <br>
Tatsächlich tritt die Sonne aber überhaupt
erst am <em><strong>11. August</strong></em>
in den Löwen. Vorher steht sie noch im Krebs.
Wie kann das sein?<br>
<br>
Man muss bedenken, dass die Festlegung, wer
wann welches Sternzeichen ist, vor sehr langer
Zeit gemacht wurde. Es ist so lange her, dass
durch die leichte Veränderung der Erdachse,
die kontinuierlich geschieht, die Zeiten
schlichtweg nicht mehr stimmen. Die Sonne
steht nun an leicht verschobener Stelle im
Gegensatz zu damals, als sie viel früher im
Sommer in den Löwen trat.<br>
<br>
Es gibt sogar heute noch ein 13.
Tierkreiszeichen! Wer zwischen dem 30.
November und 18. Dezember geboren wurde, der
ist eigentlich Schlangenträger. Denn dort
steht die Sonne heutzutage bevor sie dann in
den Schützen zieht.</p>
