Today we use those distant galaxies, some of which had first been seen by Herschel, as telescopes themselves – the biggest ones to date and possibly forever – to observe space and time even beyond the pre-relativistic barriers. <br><em><strong>200 years from galaxies in telescopes to galaxies as telescopes!</strong></em></p> <p style="margin: 1em 0px; text-align: justify;"><em>This year, we also celebrate the 200th death anniversary of William Herschel with a series of lectures and events. She has become internationally renowned for leading the H0LiCOW programme to measure the expansion rate of the universe using gravitationally lensed quasars and, since 2017, for leading HOLISMOKES, which has nothing to do with religion or addiction, but instead with lensed supernovae. </p> <p style="margin: 1em 0px; text-align: justify;">Therefore, Prof. Suyu is a world leading expert in the field of gravitational lensing, another prediction of Einstein’s that proved true.<br>In 2021 she received the Lancelot M. Oktober</strong></h3> <p style="margin: 1em 0px; text-align: justify;"><span style="text-decoration-line: inherit;">Ist Ihnen aufgefallen, dass das Alter der Volkssternwarte jetzt im Oktober genau so viel Zeit umfasst, nämlich 75 1/2 Jahre (von der ersten Himmelsführung am 31. Mai 1947 an gerechnet), wie die durchschnittliche Umlaufzeit des <a style="color: #3f3f3f; text-decoration: underline;" href="https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Halleyscher_Komet">Halleyschen Kometen</a> beträgt?</span></p> <p style="margin: 1em 0px; text-align: justify;"><span style="text-decoration-line: inherit;">Dann sind Sie bestens vorbereitet, den festlichen Gruß, den Halley uns sendet, in der richtigen Stimmung zu empfangen!</span></p> <p style="margin: 1em 0px; text-align: justify;"><span style="text-decoration-line: inherit;">Ähnlich wie im Mai die Eta-Aquariden sind die Orioniden im Oktober, die schon seit Monatsanfang und noch bis in die Herbstferien Anfang November hinein 'schauern', Staubwolken, die Halley auf seiner langgezogenen Bahn in relativer Sonnennähe hinterlassen hat und die wir mit unserem Raumschiff Erde zweimal pro Jahr durchkreuzen. Zuletzt aufgefrischt wurden die interplanetaren Konfettis beim Vorbeiflug 1986. Und wer rechnet, merkt schnell: In der Tat, bald ist es so weit, nämlich Ende 2023, dass Halley am Ende seiner langen Reise jenseits der Neptun-Bahn angelangt ist und wieder kehrt macht. Ab dann dürfen wir uns auf seine Rückkunft im Jahre 2061 freuen!<br><br>Aktuell ist Halley 34-mal weiter von der Sonne entfernt als die Erde und steht in Richtung des Sternbilds Wasserschlange am Himmel (freilich nicht sichtbar, selbst in den größten Teleskopen nicht). Oben in der Grafik (<a style="color: #3f3f3f; text-decoration: underline;" href="https://stellarium-web.org/">Stellarium</a>) ist seine Position mit einem Kreuz markiert. Sie können also, wenn Ihnen am Morgenhimmel Sternschnuppen aus Richtung Orion (links oberhalb von Beteigeuze) entgegenkommen, den Gruß erwidern und kurz winken. <br>Am besten beobachtbar sind die Schnuppen nach Mitternacht bis in die frühen Morgenstunden. Sie scheinen zwar aus Richtung Orion zu kommen (daher der Name), ziehen ihre Leuchtspuren aber am ganzen Himmel. Die besten Chancen, einen der ca. 15 bis 20 stündlichen Meteore zu erhaschen, hat man bei einem leicht schrägen Blick von ca. 45° zu Orion. Aufgrund ihrer hohen Geschwindigkeit von über 60 km/s (Tempo 200.000 km/h) - das ist mehr als doppelt so schnell, wie die Erde um die Sonne fliegt - können sie recht hell leuchten.<br><br>Wer es bequemer und unabhängig von Wetter und Uhrzeit mag: Heutzutage gibt es für so etwas freilich auch <a style="color: #3f3f3f; text-decoration: underline;" href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O9mKb8GpGQg">einen Livestream</a>!<br><br>Wem "couch observing" aber dann auf Dauer doch nicht genug ist: Es gibt nur noch einige freie Termine bei der Abendführung im November. Die <a style="color: #3f3f3f; text-decoration: underline;" href="https://www.ardalpha.de/wissen/weltall/astronomie/dart-asteroiden-missionkollision-einschlag-dimorphos-didymos-100.html">Umlaufzeit des Asteroiden-Mondes Dimorphos</a> (Spitzname "Didymoon") wurde um über eine halbe Stunde, von 11 Stunden 55 Minuten auf 11 Stunden 23 Minuten, verkürzt. Erstmals haben die Menschen den "Griff nach den Sternen" ganz wörtlich realisiert und manipulierend in die himmlischen Umläufe eingegriffen. Ein Meilenstein auf dem Weg zur planetaren Abwehr, wenn es einmal wirklich darum gehen sollte (wie bislang zum Glück nur in Hollywood), die Erde vor bedrohlichen Kometen oder Asteroiden zu beschützen. <td class="long-text links-color" style="font-weight: normal; color: #000000; font-size: 13px; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; text-align: left; line-height: normal;" align="left" valign="top" width="100%"> <h3 style="text-align: justify;"><br>Stell dir vor, es ist Sonnenfinsternis und keine:r guckt hin!</h3> <p style="margin: 1em 0px; text-align: justify;"><em><strong>Winterreifen erst nach dem ersten Schnee? -</strong></em><strong> Vorsorge ist die beste Sorge!</strong></p> <p style="margin: 1em 0px; text-align: justify;"><br>Keine Sorge, wir wollen Ihnen keine Versicherung aufschwatzen ... - oder doch, eigentlich genau das: eine Versicherung für Ihre Augen, damit Sie <strong>die Sonnenfinsternis am Mittag über München am nächsten Dienstag, dem 25.10., gefahrlos genießen</strong> können. <br><br>Wie schade wäre es doch, wenn Sie zwar wissen, dass dort oben am Himmel sich jetzt ein "Drache" ein Stück von der Sonne einverleibt - so die chinesische Mythologie zu den damals furchteinflößenden, und zumal noch unvorhersehbaren Mysterienspielen der beiden Protagonisten von Tag & Nacht, Sonne & Mond - aber nichts selbst sehen können, weil Sie <em><strong>... die Brille vergessen </strong>haben !?</em></p> <p style="margin: 1em 0px; text-align: justify;">Mit einer <strong>zertifizierten Sonnenfinsternis-Brille</strong>, wie Sie auch bei uns <strong>an der Sternwarte für 4,90 € erhätlich</strong> ist, sitzen Sie hingegen in der ersten Reihe!<br>Um Viertel nach 11 Uhr geht es los (MESZ), die schwarze Neumondscheibe schiebt sich vor die Sonne, um Viertel nach 12 Uhr ist die maximale Bedeckung erreicht (von München aus 23,6%, weiter nordöstlich von München aus werden es mehr), um Viertel nach eins ist der Spuk vorbei und Sie dürfen die Brille wieder absetzen!</p> <p style="margin: 1em 0px; text-align: justify;"><span style="color: #fa0505;"><strong>WARNUNG:</strong></span> Spaß beiseite. Die Gefahr der Sonnenbeobachtung ist nur allzu real, gerade, wenn man versucht ist, hinzuschauen und nicht weiß, wie (<a style="color: #3f3f3f; text-decoration: underline;" href="https://www.haus-der-astronomie.de/sonnenfinsternis">hier gibt es Tipps zur sicheren Beobachtung!</a>). <span style="color: #f70505;"><strong>SCHAUEN SIE NIEMALS DIREKT IN DIE SONNE OHNE GEEIGNETE SCHUTZMASSNAHMEN. ES DROHT SOFORTIGE ERBLINDUNG.</strong></span><br>Die Sonnenfinsternis-Brille muss CE-zertifiziert sein und die Folien unbeschädigt. Sie darf nicht mit irgendwelchem optischen Gerät kombiniert werden. Hierfür sind andere Filterfolien (<span style="text-decoration: underline;">vor</span> dem Objektiv) oder Projektionsmethoden erforderlich. Filterfolie für Ferngläser ist ebenfalls bei uns an der Sternwarte erhältlich (A5-Format für 12,50 Euro). Auch eine <a style="color: #3f3f3f; text-decoration: underline;" href="https://www.haus-der-astronomie.de/sonnenfinsternis">Lochkamera</a> lässt sich einfach bauen!<br>Zur Not bzw. bei schlechtem Wetter gibt es auch noch diverse <em>Livestreams</em>, z.B. vom <a style="color: #3f3f3f; text-decoration: underline;" href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mhm6U0eAHS8">Planetarium Hamburg</a>.<br><br>Am besten besucht man natürlich zu so einem Ereignis eine Sternwarte.
