kann Herschel mit vielen weiteren
Talenten und Entdeckungen aufwarten,
die zum Teil (zu Unrecht, wie wir
meinen) in Vergessenheit geraten
sind, zumal auch als <strong>Komponist</strong>.</p>

Erkenntnisse überdauerten die
Jahrhunderte. Denn, was hat die
GAIA-Mission, was hat die
Beobachtung des Zentrums der
Milchstraße, was haben
Gravitationswellen mit Herschel zu

In all diesen Gebieten, die heute
die Speerspitze der Forschung
bilden, war Herschel Pionier: bei
der Kartierung unserer Milchstraße,
bei der Entdeckung der langwelligen
Spektralbereiche und dem erstmaligen
Nachweis gravitativ gebundener
binärer Systeme außerhalb unseres

über den Himmel beobachtet: seltsam
helle Objekte, die sich mit ganz
ordentlicher Geschwindigkeit über
den Himmel bewegen. <br>
Was bei einem entspannten Abend
Sternegucken noch ganz hübsch wirken
kann (vor allem wenn die Satelliten
in Formation aufauchen, wie kurz
nach ihrem Start), ist für viele
astronomische Unternehmungen und
Anstrengungen eine Katastrophe. Die
Satelliten ruinieren mit ihrem <strong>hellen
Licht</strong> etliche Aufnahmen
von Teleskopen, die teils mehrer
Minuten
bis Stunden ein Objekt belichten.
Die grellen Streifen, die die
durchlaufenden Satelliten dort
hinterlassen, sind nicht nur unschön
sondern machen auch die meisten
wissenschaftlichen Auswertungen der
Bilder unmöglich. <br>
<br>
Nun hat sich ein weiterer, enorm
heller Satellit dazu gesellt: Am 15.
November entfaltete "<strong>BlueWalker
3</strong>" von AST SpaceMobile
seine 64 qm große Antenne. Damit ist
sie größer als alle anderen im
niedrigen Erdorbit.<br>
Ziel des Satelliten ist die
Errichtung eines ersten <strong>weltraumbasierten
Breitbandnetztes</strong> für
alltägliche Smartphones. Bisherige
Satelliten mit dieser Funktion waren
im Allgemeinen meist für
Satellitennotrufe gedacht, die
abseits eines Mobilfunknetztes
getätigt werden müssen. BlueWalker 3
soll Gebiete mit schlechtem Zugang
zum gängigen Netz mit
Breitbandinternet versorgen. So
bietet sich Menschen mit schlechter
Anbindung ans Internet eine solide
Möglichkeit, vernetzt und online zu
bleiben. An sich genommen,
eine gute Sache, die <strong>Kommunikation
und Inklusion</strong> fördern
kann.<br>
<br>
Andererseits erreicht nach Angabe
erster Berichte der Satellit am
Nachthimmel durch Reflektion von
Sonnenlicht eine Helligkeit von bis
zu <strong>+1 mag</strong> (etwa so
hell wie die Sterne Antares oder
Aldebaran). Nur noch wenige Sterne
und die Planeten, sowie der Mond,
wären damit heller als dieses
menschengemachte Objekt.<br>
Und es kommt noch heftiger:
BlueWalker 3 ist nur ein Testobjekt.
In Zukunft plant die Firma mehr als
100 solcher Riesensatelliten in den
Erdumlauf zu befördern.</p>
<p style="margin: 1em 0px; text-align:

ungetrübten Blick in den Nachthimmel
und erdgebundenen astronomischen
Beobachtungen und Messungen übrig
bleibt, ist fraglich.</p>

November </strong>steht der Mond
an seinem erdnächsten Punkt auf
seiner elliptischen Umlaufbahn um
die Erde, dem sogenannten Perigäum.
Nur 362 825 km wird er dann vom
Erdmittelpunkt entfernt sein.</p>
<p style="margin: 1em 0px; text-align:
justify;">Beobachtet man einen
Vollmond im Perigäum, so ist oft von
einem sogenannten <strong>Supermond</strong>
die Rede. Tatsächlich erscheint der
Mond, wenn er im Perigäum steht, 14%
größer und 30% heller als wenn er an
seinem erdfernsten Punkt, dem
sogenannten Apogäum, steht. <br>
Voll ist der Mond dieses Mal
allerdings erst wieder am <strong>8.
Dezember</strong>, der Perigäum
Mond ist also im November kein
"echter" Supermond, sondern erst
eine relativ schmale Sichel des
zunehmenden Mondes.</p>
<p style="margin: 1em 0px; text-align:
justify;">Interessant sind Perigäum
und Apogäum auch bei der Frage der
Dauer einer Erdumrundung des Mondes.
Der Zeitraum von einem Perigäum zum
nächsten wird <strong>anomalistischer
Monat</strong> genannt und beträgt
etwa 27,5546 Tage. Die Zeit von
einem Vollmond zum nächsten
(inklusive aller dazwischen
liegenden Mondphasen) heißt <strong>synodischer
Monat</strong> und umfasst etwa
29,5306 Tage.</p>
<p style="margin: 1em 0px; text-align:
justify;">Den ersten Vollmond im
Dezember nennt man übrigens auch den
"<strong>kalten Mond</strong>" oder
"<strong>Julmond</strong>". <br>
Erstere Bezeichnung stammt von
amerikanischen Ureinwohnern, die mit
dem Beginn des Dezembers den "kalten
Mond" in Empfang nehmen, der den
Einzug der klirrenden Kälte in ihren
Breitengraden symbolisiert. <br>
Der "Julmond" deutet auf das
germanische Julfest zur
Wintersonnwende hin, das den
kürzesten Tag des Jahres feiert.</p>
<p style="margin: 1em 0px; text-align:
justify;">Trotz der Mondphase zum
Perigäum selbst eignet sich die Zeit
um den kommenden Vollmond am 8.
Dezember natürlich hervorragend zur
Mond-Beobachtung! Der zunehmende
Mond geht immer später unter und
durch die immer noch relativ nahe
Position zur Erde erscheint er
wunderbar hell und groß. <br>
<br>
Da unsere Abendführungen bis Ende
des Jahres recht ausverkauft sind,
lohnt sich auch ein Blick mit bloßem
Auge oder evtl. einem eigenen
Fernglas von Zuhause aus. Mit
letzterem lassen sich meistens
bereits sehr gut einzelne Krater und
Strukturen auf dem Mond erkennen.</p>

heute keine unerhörten Ausnahmen
mehr, trotzdem bilden sie in den
meisten Bereichen noch immer eine
Minderheit. <br>
Bei der Langen Nacht der
Astronominnen stellen<strong> vier
Wissenschaftlerinnen der Max
Planck Institute</strong> ihre
jeweilige astrophysikalische
Forschung vor. Mit Themen wie <strong>schwarzen
Löchern</strong> und der <strong>Entwicklung
von Galaxien</strong> im Universum
bis zu <strong>Gravitationswellen</strong>
verspricht der Abend einen Einstieg
in die aktuellsten und spannensten
