<td class="long-text links-color" style="font-weight: normal; color: #3f3f3f; font-size: 13px; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; text-align: left; line-height: normal;" align="left" valign="top" width="100%"> <h3 style="text-align: justify;">Kleinplanet (319) Leona bedeckt Roten Riesen im Orion</h3> <p style="margin: 1em 0px; text-align: justify;"><strong>Geplanter Livestream in der kommenden Nacht am 12.12.2023 ab 2:00 Uhr MEZ <a style="color: #3f3f3f; text-decoration: underline;" href="https://www.virtualtelescope.eu/webtv/">hier</a>.</strong></p> <p style="margin: 1em 0px; text-align: justify;"><br><strong>Ein Jahrhundertereignis, diesmal mit Ankündigung.</strong></p> <p style="margin: 1em 0px; text-align: justify;">Vor vier Jahren, im Winter 2019/2020, war Beteigeuze schon einmal <a style="color: #3f3f3f; text-decoration: underline;" href="https://www.spektrum.de/magazin/was-ist-los-mit-beteigeuze/1700084">groß in den Schlagzeilen</a>, da sich die Helligkeit des berühmten linken (östlichen) Schultersterns des Orions unvorhergesehen dramatisch reduziert hatte, fast um die Hälfte. Viele wähnten eine Supernova unmittelbar bevorstehend. Und bis heute wird diskutiert, wie wahrscheinlich es ist, dass Beteigeuze, ein Stern an seinem Lebensende, demnächst "hochgeht" - oder womöglich <a style="color: #3f3f3f; text-decoration: underline;" href="https://www.spektrum.de/news/koennte-der-riesenstern-beteigeuze-bereits-explodiert-sein/2149020">schon gar nicht mehr existiert</a>, nur dass das Licht noch auf der Reise ist (bei ca. 600 Lichtjahren Entfernung). Sicher ist, dass Beteigeuze ziemlich am Ende ist und sich als roter Riese im Endstadium der Sternentwicklung befindet. Daher ist quasi jeden Augenblick mit einer Supernova-Explosion zu rechnen - nur dass dieser "Augenblick" in kosmischen Zeitskalen ebensogut in 10 Tagen oder in 1 Millionen Jahre sein könnte. <br>Verpassen würde das Ereignis gewiss niemand, denn für einige Wochen würde die Supernova annähernd vollmondhell ggf. sogar auch am Taghimmel leuchten.</p> <p style="margin: 1em 0px; text-align: justify;">Damit wir uns gewissermaßen schon einmal an den Anblick des Orions ohne linke Schulter gewöhnen, hat der launische Zufall der Natur sich etwas ganz Außerordentliches einfallen lassen: eine Sternbedeckung der besonderen Art. <br>Und diese findet in der kommenden Nacht, <strong>in den frühen Morgenstunden des 12. Dezember 2023 um kurz nach zwei Uhr früh (MEZ)</strong>, statt, ist aber nur von Südeuropa (und ähnlichen Breiten) aus am Himmel zu sehen. <a style="color: #3f3f3f; text-decoration: underline;" href="https://sternfreunde.de/2023/07/20/einmal-im-leben-beteigeuze-wird-bedeckt/">Hier eine ausführliche Beschreibung.</a></p> <p style="margin: 1em 0px; text-align: justify;">Sternbedeckungen durch Kleinplaneten (Asteroiden) des Sonnensystems sind ziemlich alltäglich. Ein extrem seltenes Ereignis ist aber, dass ein so heller und zugleich so großer und doch relativ naher Stern wie Beteigeuze zentral bedeckt wird von einem Asteroiden, der am Himmel zumal eine sehr ähnliche scheinbare Winkelgröße aufweist wie der Stern, den er bedeckt. Beide, Leona und Beteigeuze, erscheinen nämlich nicht punktförmig, sondern unter einem sehr kleinen, aber doch bemerkbaren Winkel von gut 40 Millibogensekunden (1 Bogensekunde ist ein 3600-stel Grad; 1 Millibogensekunde ein Tausendstel davon). Für einen Stern ist das außergewöhnlich groß, denn die allermeisten Sterne sind kleiner bzw. weiter weg und weisen praktisch gar keinen messbaren Winkel mehr auf. Nur Antares im Skorpion und Beteigeuze im Orion sind groß und "nah" genug dran, um von der Erde aus als einzige Sterne außer der Sonne Oberflächenstrukturen erkennen zu lassen. Immerhin weist Beteigeuze den mehr als 700-fachen Durchmesser der Sonne auf; in unserem Sonnensystem würde sie bis zur Jupiterbahn reichen!</p> <p style="margin: 1em 0px; text-align: justify;">(319) Leona, gerade mal eine Viertel-Lichtstunde entfernt, erscheint nun ebenfalls unter einem Winkel von gut 40 Millibogensekunden, also sehr ähnlich groß wie Beteigeuze.<br>Eine solche zufällige Übereinstimmung zwischen den scheinbaren Größen von bedeckendem und bedecktem Objekt ist berühmt-berüchtigt von Sonne und Mond (die Sonne ist 400x größer als der Mond, aber auch 400x weiter entfernt). Und ähnlich wie dort, können kleine Unterschiede der Winkelgröße und des Standorts darüber entscheiden, ob eine totale, partielle oder eine ringförmige Finsternis eintritt. Ähnlich spannend wird es bei Leona und Beteigeuze. Die exakte Lage des nur 1,5 km breiten Finsternisstreifens lässt sich nur mit einem Fehler von einigen Kilometern vorhersagen. Allerdings ist die Finsternis natürlich nicht so wie bei einer Sonnenfinsternis visuell oder photographisch direkt zu sehen; nur anhand der genauen Form der Lichtkurve (also der Helligkeitsschwankung), gemessen von möglichst vielen Standorten aus, lässt sich das im Nachhinein genauer rekonstruieren. Im Idealfall lassen sich später Aussagen über die Oberflächengestalt von Beteigeuze treffen.</p> <p style="margin: 1em 0px; text-align: justify;">Unser Mitglied, der international renommierte <a style="color: #3f3f3f; text-decoration: underline;" href="https://astrode.de/">Astrofotograf Bernd Gährken</a>, ist eigens dafür in Südspanien unterwegs. Im Erfolgsfall (gutes Wetter!) wird er sicher zu gegebener Zeit darüber an der Volkssternwarte berichten von dieser wahrhaft einmaligen Sternenfinsternis.</p> <p style="margin: 1em 0px; text-align: justify;">Glücklicherweise plant Gianluca Masi, Betreiber von <a style="color: #3f3f3f; text-decoration: underline;" href="https://www.virtualtelescope.eu/2023/12/04/the-extremely-rare-betelgeuse-occultation-by-asteroid-319-leona-online-event-12-dec-2023/">virtualtelescope.eu</a> einen <a style="color: #3f3f3f; text-decoration: underline;" href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ELQx7SCadM4"><strong>Livestream</strong></a>, für den es sich lohnt, auf ein paar Minuten Schlaf zu verzichten (die eigentliche Bedeckung dauert, je nach Standort, ohnehin nur bis zu max. 12 Sekunden, ggf. deutlich weniger). Dezember 2023, 20 Uhr <span style="color: #fc0505;">- <em>AUSVERKAUFT!</em></span></strong></p> <p style="margin: 1em 0px; text-align: justify;">Mit zu den prächtigsten Anblicken am Himmel gehört das Wintersechseck, in dessen Mitte Beteigeuze - noch - thront. Nur zwei helle Lichter mögen abends davon ablenken: die Riesenplaneten Saturn und Jupiter. Während Saturn schon am frühen Abend untergeht, macht der alle in der Nacht überstrahlende Jupiter sich anheischig, die hellen Wintersterne als "siebter im Bunde" herauszufordern.<br><br>Als wäre das der Pracht noch nicht genug, tritt jetzt Mitte Dezember noch der hellste Sternschnuppenstrom des Jahres auf: <strong>die Geminiden</strong>. Am Donnerstagabend, in der Nacht des <strong>Maximums (14. auf 15.12.)</strong> ist mit weit über 100 Gelegenheiten pro Stunde zu rechnen, sich etwas wünschen zu dürfen. Bereits ab Dunkelwerden am Abend kann man sein Glück versuchen. Je später die Nacht, desto höher steigen die Zwillinge, denen die Schnuppen scheinbar entspringen. Der Mond stört dieses Jahr überhaupt nicht (Neumond am 13.12.), daher sollte man sich das Spektakel auch nicht von sonstigen künstlichen Lichtquellen oder Horizonteinschränkungen schmälern lassen. Nur: Gutes Wetter müsste man sich wünschen, aber dafür müsste das Wetter ja schon gut genug sein, um wenigstens ein paar Meteore zu sehen! Eine verfahrene Lage, die uns tatsächlich das schönste Geminiden-Jahr zu vermasseln droht.<br>Entgegen einem verbreiteten Missverständnis ist es nicht nötig und auch nicht sinnvoll, gebannt auf die Zwillinge (Castor und Pollux) zu starren. Die Sternschnuppen huschen über den ganzen Himmel verteilt. Suchen Sie daher einen möglichst dunklen Standort mit größtmöglichem freien Himmelsausschnitt und schauen Sie hoch nach oben Richtung Zenit. Im Sommer würde man eine Decke im Gras empfehlen; je nach Wetter wäre jetzt eher ein Schlitten oder ein Biwaksack das Mittel der Wahl... Und wenn nach einigen Minuten die ersten Leuchtspuren über den Himmel gezogen sind, verlängern Sie diese Spur einfach rückwärts - und Sie landen ganz von selbst bei Castor, dem oberen der beiden Zwillingssterne.
